Shengavit archaeological site

The oldest settlement of modern Yerevan, which has come down to us as the habitat of a civilized society of the Early Bronze Age, is located in a lively area of Yerevan on the shore of Lake Yerevan. 

This ancient place represents an extensive cultural layer of the Early Bronze Age. 

It was one of the most powerful and advanced settlements of that time with a developed economy and culture.  

The city was surrounded by a powerful wall, it had a temple complex, ordinary dwellings, a rectangular hall with round-plan rooms, a procession of hazarashen and a central hearth.  

The territory of the ancient settlement of Shengavit is quite well studied, although periodically conducted excavations reveal more and more interesting and amazing facts about the life and way of life of the settlement, the ritual and management system.  

A lot of ceramics, idols, weapons, jewelry and many other materials were found here.
