Vayots Dzor region is rich not only in interesting mountain hiking trail, but also in natural and architectural monuments hidden on these ways.
One of these routes leads to the Shativank, where the road is admired by volcanic basalt mountains and graphic outlines of mountain peaks and Shativank is one of the powerful scientific and educational centers of medieval Armenia.
In Hors village, there are dilapidated walls of an abandoned medieval house next to residential buildings.
These walls have been missing for a long time.
It was built by Cesar Orbelian as a summer house.
The house plan is perfectly preserved the exterior walls and in the main hall there is even a fireplace in the wall.
This summer house perfectly reflects the living conditions of a medieval man.
Shativank is located about 15 kilometers from the village of Shatin, the road is accompanied by volcanic basalt landscapes overlooking the mountains of Vayots Dzor.
A rocky road leads to a dead end, where there are the ruins of a magnificent monastery complex of the Middle Ages, which was one of the spiritual and scientific centers of that time, having a school, a bookstore, a hotel, workshops, a well.
