Targmanchat’s church was once called St Mariam Astvatsatsin.
According to Toros Toramanyan, it was built in the 7th century by analogy with the Cathedral of St. Hripsime in Vagharshapat.
The church is dilapidated, but even in this status the high architecture is noticeable.
It was built of with large pieces of black and brown polished tuff.
The name of the church is associated with the early period of the Armenian bibliography.
It was a writing center. Many manuscripts have been duplicated and translated here.
