Oshakan is the largest village of Armenia which is rich with cultural monuments.
On time many episodes of the best Armenian movie were taken here which were kept as valuable historical materials.
Walking in the village you will get acquainted with the monuments and the places where these famous movies were taken.
Oshakan is located on the bank of the Kasakh river.
It has a beautiful landscape to the right and left of thre gorge.
The gorge is not only comfortable for living conditions but many caves have been served for different purposes here.
We shall visit two of these caves which eventually became sacred places.
Related to this place you will listen interesting stories and enjoy the coolness of the river.
Many bridges have been preserved since the middle ages but five are unique.
One of these bridges is located in Oshakan in the gorge of Kasakh.
The bridge has been built from 1691 till 1706 and is still standing and is conecting Oshakan old and new passages.
Armenian scripts were created in the 5th century by Mesrop Mashtots.
Mashtots was canonized and his remains were buried in Oshakan and church of the same name was built on his grave.
There is also a grove of letters in the back yard of the church.
A walk through Oshakan will pass by old houses built of tuff, old, wooden doors, narrow and crooked steets, and famous and unknown stories of the inhabitants.
Bunik is the oldest house in Oshakan.
It has been built in1885.
It has tonir - Armenian traditional hearth, a wine cellar and typical Armenian village architecture.
Bunik represents the exsmple of traditional Armenixn house where traditional games, rituals and events are held.
