Oshakan Church of St. Mesrop Mashtots was built on the place where the tomb of the author of the invention of the Armenian script St. Mesrop Mashtots is located.
The first church was built by Lord Vahan Amatuni in 443.
Later it was rebuilt and came down to us in a completely different form.
The current church is unique not only in its significance, but also in its structure.
The bell tower is located in the eastern part of the church, which is not typical for Armenian church construction.
The interior of the church is rich in frescoes that give a special luxury to an already luxurious building. Excavations carried out in 2014 made interesting discoveries.
The open layer under the northern wall is separated by a glazed signboard, and you can see the old foundation of the church.
There is also a square of Armenian writing and a statue of Mashtots behind the scenes of the church.
