Kumar Cultural Reserve

Kumairi is the old name of the city of Gyumri.

Today, this is the name of the historical environment located in the center of the city, which has the status of a cultural reserve.

Kumair Cultural Reserve was established in 1988 in order to ensure that a number of buildings of historical and cultural value are under the control and protection of the state. 

It is interesting, that the excavations carried out on the territory of Kumairi show that the territory was inhabited as early as the third millennium BC and has been inhabited continuously until today.

There are more than 1,600 historical and cultural monuments on the territory of the Kumairi Reserve. The buildings of Kumairi district represent the architectural style of the historical city of Kars. now it is located on the territory of Turkey.
