Ovanavank is located on the territory of the village Oganavan at the edge of the Kasakh gorge.
The gorge offers a beautiful view of the holy Ararat and Mount Ara.
Various buildings of this monastery complex were built in the IV-XIII centuries.
The oldest buildings of the complex are the Church of St. Karapet, which was founded by St. Gregory Illuminator.
The complex has played an important role in the cultural, spiritual and educational spheres of the country in different periods of the history of Armenia.
Many prominent figures in our history have been educated, engaged in science and writing here.
