Byurakan Observatory

The observatory has been named after the world-famous astrophysicist Viktor Ambartsumyan since its foundation in 1946 and is located in the village of Byurakan.

It is located at an altitude of 145 meters above sea level on the slopes of the highest mountain in Armenia, Aragats.

The air here is very clean, the location allows for serious telescopic research, which was carried out during the years of the great Hambartsumyan's activity.

Star observations are carried out on the territory of the observatory and the role of Armenia in world astronomy is presented.

Scientific research is mainly related to unstable phenomena in the universe.

The observatory also houses the Victor Hambartsumian House Museum, where the great scientist lived during his years of activity in Armenia.
