Artavazik Church

Artavazdik church is located on the outskirts of the village of Byurakan on the shore of the gorge.

They say that the name came from the name of its builder Artavazd, the cross-domed church.

Little is known about the construction of the church that it was built in the seventh century and later, probably, its bell tower was built in the 13th century.

The church was destroyed and repaired.

Now it is in a dilapidated state, and sculptural fragments of the destroyed building are scattered around the churchyard.
