Birds' cave

Bird cave or “Areni 1” is located in the Vayots Dzor region, in the gorge leading to Noravank monastery.

It is known to the world for its exclusive materials, some of which some of them are still the oldest found.

The oldest winery is found there in 2007, the age of which dates back to the fourth millennium BC.

The oldest whole-skinned shoe was found there in 2008, the age of which is 5,500 years old, also human treasures, vines, apricot pits, reed fabrics, the mummified body part of a goat and much more artefacts.

Excavations in the cave continue and new interesting discoveries are made every year.
